Budget-Conscious Backyard Re-do

Project Description

The long narrow yard and small elevated deck of this budget-crunched family lacked privacy and usable outdoor space. The overall plan was to visibly break up the yard to give the illusion of more space while directing the flow of traffic towards the largest most comfortable and private part of the backyard.

The Deck:

  • The corner of the deck was cut away and replaced with a wide set of stars to create a spacious pass-through to the new patio.

Original Deck Access:

  • The original deck access was converted into a charming path and small private sitting area.

Privacy Screening:

  • The view of their neighbor’s house was screened with a large trellis built from pallets and planted with Carolina Jasmine.

Patio:

  • A patio was added at ground level to maximize privacy and expand their outdoor living space.

Main Yard:

  • Now, the family has easy access to the most spacious and functional portion of their backyard.
Our backyard was nothing short of a disaster! Then Jennifer showed up and now we have an oasis! Our time is now spent enjoying the outdoors. Yolanda N. (Winterville)
